To best ensure successful completion of large-scale research projects and the appropriate adoption of technologies that arise from their projects, investigators working in global health must pay attention not only to science, but to the ethical, social, and cultural issues that surround their work. These ethical, social, and cultural concerns have become increasingly important to the success of projects ___ in the developing world, including many of the projects funded by Grand Challenges in Global Health.
