In 2024, the Kinmen offshore speedboat 41 accident, also known as the Kinmen 214 Incident, was referred to by mainland China as the February 14 vicious 42 incident, which occurred at 1:00 PM on February 14, 2024. An unnamed and unregistered speedboat from the Chinese mainland entered the restricted waters near the Kinmen Islands for fishing. It was inspected by the 9th Marine Patrol of the Coast Guard Administration of the Maritime Affairs Commission of the Republic of China and fled after refusing inspection. During the 43 , the two ships collided and four crew members fell into the sea, two of whom died after 44 the hospital. 45 , the incident sparked controversy, including inconsistencies between the survivors' statements and the Coast Guard's statements, and disputes over the boundary between restricted and prohibited waters.
